About the role

The Financial Controller reports to the Managing Director and requires someone who is prepared to be hands on in the day to day finance and administration activities of the business, providing assistance working collaboratively across functions where and when required but also be involved in strategic and management matters providing insights and thinking contributing to new initiatives and business growth.



Responsibilities of the role

The role responsibilities are broad and include:

  • Preparation and presentation of Monthly Management reports

  • Analysis of Management Reports with recommendations as to business and process improvements

  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts

  • Month end reconciliations – P&L, Balance Sheet, GST/PAYG etc

  • Participate in month end management meetings

  • Liaise with Trust Accounting function regarding payments and receipts

  • Process of fortnightly and monthly payroll

  • Invoicing of fees and oncosts to clients

  • Weekly follow up of Accounts Receivable

  • Processing of creditor invoices and payments

  • Management of staff incentive plan and payment reconciliations

  • Daily banking liaison and reconciliations

  • Apply a lens of continuous improvement over all aspects of the finance function


About you

  • Degree supported by CA/CPA qualifications

  • Demonstrate sound judgement and leadership in leading and supporting management decision making through highly developed commercial acumen

  • Depth of understanding of complex accounting process such as Trust Accounting

  • High levels of adaptability to address the various needs in a dynamic SME environment

  • High attention to detail, numerically and analytically strong

  • Ability to self-motivate with a strong work ethic

  • Excellent communication and relationship development ability

  • Strength in recognising what can be improved in technology, systems and processes to drive efficiencies

  • Background in commercial real estate advantageous but not essential
